
SERKAN NIHAT
Serkan Nihat is an award-winning London based Film-Maker working in the British TV & Film industry.
He is a technically competent director, experienced at manipulating cameras, lenses and lighting to create strong visual images which aids him within the visceral world of fashion and beauty
Born in Edmonton, North London Serkans introduction to cinema was from the Yesilcam silver-age of Turkish cinema.
Having begun in post-production Serkan was one of foremost assistant editors in the UK having worked on every major UK drama from Spooks, Call the Midwife, Broadchurch and Taboo. Serkan also oversaw the very first fully tapeless workflow on a drama series (Law & Order). Since then he has specialised in editing trailers and TV spots for many well-known dramas.
Since making the transition from editor to director, he has directed campaigns for Barclays, Virgin, Honda and Unilever. In 2018 he won the Cannes Silver Dolphin award and in 2019 was a finalist in the Creative pool industry awards. In 2019 he was awarded an Evcom Award for a Vogue campaign and has since won another three EVCOM awards.
His short film 'Footprints On The Moon' debuted at the East End film Festival and toured globally with the Lift off Festival where it won the ‘Audience Favourite Award’.
His latest short film ‘Apex’ starring Charlotte Riley (Peaky Blinders) and Tom Weston Jones (Dickensian) won the Cannes Short Film Competition with ‘Best film’ and ‘Audience Award’.
He has just completed his first feature film 'Exodus' which will be released in 2023.
As well as a love for cinema, Serkan is obsessed with Baseball caps, Trainers, Rap Music and Sylvester Stallone Movies.
